ABOUT ME

Born in London I began sewing and drafting my own patterns during the 1980's as a teenager. I trained at both Croydon College of Design and Technology, and Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication. 

 

I began my career as a women's wear Junior Designer-Pattern Cutter in Central London, for an established high street manufacturer, quickly seeing my design collections on display in the windows of the main fashion stores at the time including Top Shop, Miss Selfridge and Wallis.

In 2012 I founded The White Room SE4, a unique design-hub based in Brockley, south east London, for people wanting to develop their skills in fashion-led clothes making.

My love of pattern cutting, lines, fit, shape and structure has been a lifelong passion and I've been lucky enough to work and collaborate with some great people, from established high end brands to high street shops, independent labels, young designers, factories and manufacturers.

I am passionate about sustainability and minimising waste during the process of design development and garment manufacture

​

I established Nicky Cook Patterns in 2015 as a destination for companies and individuals looking to find great patterns for their own brand.

​

My current clients include long standing relationships I have established throughout my 30 year career, alongside new brands and companies that reach out to me
